Lightsabers & Sonnets: A Shakespearean Space Odyssey
In Lightsabers & Sonnets: A Shakespearean Space Odyssey we will return once again to a galaxy far, far away with the retelling of George Lucas’s Star Wars Trilogy in the style of the immortal William Shakespeare! Join us on Zoom for this exciting 14-week class on Tuesdays, October 1, 2024 through January 21, 2025, 10:30AM - 12:30PM MountainTime. Lightsabers & Sonnets is designed as an introduction to the works and language of Shakespeare for age 11-15+, and serves as the forerunner to Shakespeare Conquest which is a two-semester course for ages 12-19. We will explore language; learn assorted styles of poetry and prose, focusing much on the glorious iambic pentameter; dip our toes into doing research; acquire skills in writing, memorization, and public speaking. We will embark on a joy-filled journey of an exciting galactic adventure in creative presentations, poetry writing and readings (think galactic beatnik!), with a little theatre training sprinkled throughout!
Enjoy exploring the beauty of the Shakespearean language while wielding lightsabers and speaking Wookieespeak, you will...Hmmmmmm.

The cost of this class is $265+ tax (San Juan County New Mexico 6.51%) totaling $282.25. A $50 non-refundable deposit is due upon registration. A payment plan is available breaking the balance of $232.25 into 4 payments of $58.06 due on the first of each month. Payment in full at the time of registration will include an 8% discount making the total $259.67 (includes tax).
